You Can't Call Me Betty Crocker

I happen to have a delicious Banana Bread recipe. It was given to me by a friend whose grandmother made it when she was a little girl. So, naturally, anytime I have a few ripe bananas on hand, Banana Bread is what I make.

This was exactly the case Monday Morning.

Grafton (my usual cooking assistant) and I whipped some up and then licked the batter from the bowl. I immediately realized that something was terribly wrong! I referred back to my recipe and realized the problem.... I measured with a TABLESPOON instead of a TEASPOON when putting in the salt & baking soda!

I went ahead and finished baking the bread (which smelled wonderful by the way), but did not have high hopes for it.

My expectation was correct. It looked okay, but it was the saltiest and most bitter bread you could imagine.

The crazy thing is that the last time I made banana bread I forgot to put in the baking powder and ended up with bread that looked & felt like a brick.

Maybe the 3rd time's a charm?
