Our Trip to Disneyland: Days 1 and 2

Vince and I are avid Disney fans. In fact, in the 5 years that we have been married, we've been to Disneyland 4 times (not including this trip) and Disney World 3 times. When we decided to take a trip by ourselves and celebrate Vince's 40th birthday, it made perfect sense to visit our beloved place once again.

Our trip started last Tuesday when Vince and I got up, finished packing, dropped the boys off with their grandparents and headed to the airport. It had been a while since we had traveled without kids and so I was amused at the parents dealing with their nap-deprived children while I was able to read my book, sip my coke, and wait for our plane to arrive.

Once we arrived at our hotel we quickly changed and walked to Downtown Disney where we ate Mexican Food, shopped, and watched a movie. It had been 5 months since we'd been to the movies together, so we decided to take advantage of the opportunity.

Tuesday morning we had a delicious breakfast and Mimi's Cafe and then walked across the street to the "Happiest Place on Earth" which was decorated for my favorite season, Fall!

We had decided before we left home that our first ride would be the Disneyland classic, Peter Pan.

Every year at Disneyland they change the Haunted Mansion to the theme from Tim Burton's movie, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" in late October-December. I had never seen the ride this way before and actually liked it better than the original.

A good friend of mine raves about the turkey legs at Disney and so that was my dinner of choice while we sat and waited for the fireworks. Unfortunately, it was too windy so the show was cancelled for that evening.

At least we had a beautiful view of the castle in the mean time.

We ended our first full day of Disney by looking through the shops on Main Street. We didn't make any purchases that day, but we wanted to know what our options were.

Exhausted and cold but happy we trailed back to our hotel, changed into our warm pajamas and ate chocolate in bed while watching the Jay Leno Show. It really felt like we were on vacation!
