On the morning of Vince's Birthday our original plan was to have breakfast at IHOP and then arrive at Disney California when it opened. However, we took full advantage of the opportunity to sleep in and did not leave ourselves enough time time for a big sit-down meal. As a result, we went straight to the park and had Vince's birthday breakfast there.
It's a big no-no to feed the birds, but we couldn't resist when they would eat right out of your hands. Plus, it was Vince's birthday and that's the day when you get to break all of the rules.
Toy Story Mania was the one ride that had opened since we'd been there last. It's a 3-D game and ride all in one. I beat Vince's score 2 out of the 3 times we played!
The only character we met during our trip was Goofy. He is one of Vince's favorites, so we were all right with that.
On our way out of Disney California we stopped for a few minutes so that Vince could "pick" a decoration.
This year Disney is doing a big birthday promotion. There's a few gifts from them you can choose from when you're there on your actual birthday. Vince picked a gift-card for $72 (the amount of a day's admission into one of the parks). He used it on a Mickey Watch for himself and a Disney Shirt for me. What a nice husband I have!
They also gave him a pin that said "Happy Birthday Vince" and they gave me one to wear that said "I'm Celebrating". We proudly wore them all day.
We spent the majority of our day at Disney California, but we went back to Disneyland to ride the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Indiana Jones for a second time. They're our three favorite rides.
Afterwards we did some shopping on Main Street, stood in line for 30 minutes for a coke and a hot dog, and waited for the fireworks show which we did get to see!
We then walked to Downtown Disney to finish our shopping and grab dessert from the confectionary.
The day we left for home was pretty uneventful. We arrived at the airport over 3 hours before our flight left, so we ate lunch, looked at a few of the shops, and savored our last few moments of being together by ourselves. However, we were anxious to get home to our boys whom we had missed terribly!
It was a great trip and a much needed getaway for the two of us.
THE END
